Study Tip: Were you surprised at how many former quizzers showed up for the Trumbull Homecoming? The fact is, the habits of studying and memorization you form now will last a lifetime. And the scripture you memorize now will always be with you. Remember, every day as you study, that you're not just studying for the next practice or the next quiz, you're studying for life!

Fun with the Coaches
Sorry, folks. I just couldn't resist. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Monroe Coaches!
(The "Happy Holidays" at the end is the only option offered. I would have preferred a more Christ-centered salutation.)

WEEK 16: Review Matthew, Chapters 11-14
This week (December 24 thru December 30), please review Matthew, Chapters 11-14.
There is no practice next week, to allow Quiz Team families to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. We use such weeks as review weeks. Please take a moment and consider your weakest chapters, so you can focus there for this week.
Past Chapter Resources:
Study Tip: There's going to be a huge temptation to take the next week "off" from Bible Quizzing. After all, it's Christmas and then New Years and you're going to be busy anyway. But the brain is like a muscle. If you use it, it gets stronger. If you let it rest, it gets weaker. Don't let your knowledge of the Gospel of Matthew weaken over the next two weeks! Keep working and stay strong! Midwinter is coming!
Upcoming Events:
- Sunday, December 29 - NO PRACTICE
- Saturday, January 19 - Midwinter Quiz Meet in Sparta, NJ

PHOTOS: A glimpse of our future?
This last Wednesday, the Trumbull Bible Quiz Team had their "Homecoming" event. This time, every year, former quizzers return to Calvary Church to celebrate Bible Quizzing and to encourage the current team. Quizzers from as far back as the 70s have come back over the years. This could be a preview of our own future!

Study Tip: We are now approaching the halfway point in the Quizzing Year. Are you suddenly realizing how far behind you are in the study process? Fear not! Most quiz meets tend to have more questions from the last few chapters studied, than from anywhere else. If you have not been studying to your best up until now, start fresh this week and you'll quickly see an expert in the later chapters of Matthew has a lot to offer to the team at Midwinter and beyond!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Cantata has been postponed
Thanks to everyone who came out to the practice last night, but due to the events in Newtown yesterday, Beacon Hill Church will be postponing the Christmas Cantata. We'll let you know the new dates and times when they are available. We will be having Bible Quiz Team practice as usual during Sunday School, however.
Update 9:15 AM: We will not have practice tomorrow. Instead, there will be a combined teen Sunday School to talk about the tragedy.
Please be praying for the victims, their families, the school workers, and the first responders caught up in this tragedy. Prayer is a powerful thing to comfort and move communities toward solidarity and healing.

Study Tip: Christmas is now bearing down upon us, and if you're like me, you are a little bit overwhelmed with everything that has to get done. How can you fit your studying for Bible Quiz Team into the schedule? They key is to set clear and simple goals. Consider creating a to-do list for each day of tasks that must be done before bedtime, and checking them off as you go. AND make sure "study Bible Quiz Team material" is on that list! Having a list can help focus you, and keep you from accidentally drifting off into unproductive activities.
Upcoming Events:

- Sunday, December 16 - Christmas Cantata - Please arrive by 8 AM!

Study Tip: Are you taking full advantage of the tools available to you for studying? While we provide commentaries, MP3s, puzzles, lists of reference and FTV questions, scripture portions and keywords, many quizzers wind up just doing the same old thing and just read the chapters for their studying. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can become old hat after a while and you can lose the excitement that comes with new discoveries. Consider really digging into ALL of the tools at your disposal to reignite your excitement for Bible Quizzing!
